I am wondering something.will the positional sensing on the Roland digital ride, snare and hats transmit via midi into the DAW or will I have to create a custom map in AD2? Is the Roland map in AD2 up to date to take these additional hits (notes) from the digital pads into consideration or is it ONLY the TD50X that knows to do this and produce the sounds? i.e it does not transmit these different midi notes downstream to the DAW. I am thinking of going the big spend on the Roland VAD706 and adding an additional Yamaha floor tom with a ddt mesh head and trigger to the setup, I also have a JOBEKY cowbel. I am working in studios a long time and know my way around these modules threshold settings etc. I currently have a MusicStore own brand FAME top of the range e kit which is not too bad but still not great. In a different Pro studio in the early '90's we converted a Yamaha kit with stick on triggers and ran it into a very early Alesis moduIe (SR 16 I think) and over-dubbed the real hats and cymbals later. Drummers I have had in studio doing session work thought the same. These all plugged into an Alesis i/o which fed midi to Addictive Drums 1 and 2 but was never totally happy with the results. In the past I have converted acoustic kits to e use with ddt mesh heads and triggers and surge cymbals. I drum a bit but it is not my main instrument, guitars and any stringed instruments are.
